Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Made in Millbrook website at madeinmillbrook.org.uk.

Made in Millbrook is a University of Southampton community heritage research project. The University of Southampton is committed to making this website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Using this website

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. Visitors should be able to:

• Navigate the website using a keyboard.

• Enlarge text without losing content or functionality.

• Use screen-reading software to access the website.

• Understand the website’s text, headings and links.

• Access meaningful descriptions of important images.

We aim to use clear language and a consistent structure throughout the website.

Compliance status

This website has not yet undergone a full accessibility audit against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. We therefore cannot currently state that it is fully compliant.

We are reviewing the website as its pages are completed and addressing the known accessibility issues listed below.

Known accessibility issues

Some images may not yet have suitable text alternatives. This could make their meaning unavailable to people using screen-reading software.

The heading structure on some pages may not follow a fully logical order. This can make navigating the content more difficult for people using assistive technology.

Some links may not describe their destination clearly enough when read on their own, or their wording may not precisely match the page they open.

Some historical documents, archive material and downloadable resources may not be fully accessible. We will provide information in an alternative format where reasonably possible.

We are reviewing these issues and making improvements as each section of the website is completed.

A preliminary manual review of the homepage and About the project page was carried out on 7 August 2026. This was a limited content and structural review, not a full independent audit against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

This statement will be updated following further accessibility testing, significant changes to the website or the identification of new accessibility issues.
